common square and square roots

I think God must have been in a really bad mood decided to come up with something called math to trouble us! I’ve spent hours working on this algebra problem which relates to common square and square roots and I still can’t crack it . I’m particularly stuck on radicals, simplifying fractions and x-intercept. Can anyone throw some light on how to go about solving such problems? I’ve tried various means that I could think of, but none helped. I need some urgent help now. Anybody?

Due to health reasons you might have missed a few classes at school, but what if I can you can have your own little classroom , in the place where you live? In fact, right on the laptop that you are working on? Each one of us has missed some lectures at some point or the other during our life, but thanks to Algebrator I’ve never missed much. I remember of going through difficulties with trigonometry, factoring polynomials and graphing equations.
